ABOUT THE PIECE

Frenchi Cane Beetle and Greyback Cane Beetle are collages of specimen studies of the two types of Cane Beetle that Cane Toads were originally introduced to Australia to eliminate in 1935. In an ironic twist these beetles have been made out of the leather of their supremely incompetent predator.

ARTIST BIO

After graduating in 2001 with honours in media arts (fine art photography) MO embarked on a 13 year career in fashion as a buyer and designer. In 2014 a chance encounter with the work of David McDiarmid led her to start experimenting with collage and vinyl. The success of her 2015 solo show Cry In The Night encouraged her to focus on her art practice full time. Since then MO has exhibited in a number of solo and group shows in Melbourne and London. Her practice has proved very versatile. Her work has featured on The Pretty Littles album cover Skeleton Run and several large public window installations. Most recently MO has returned to the fashion game with a successful collaboration with the label Handsom.
